𝗔𝗡𝗡 𝗔𝗥𝗕𝗢𝗥, 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵. – Father Gabriel Richard Athletics added two more titles over the weekend, highlighted by Equestrian claiming a district championship and Girls Volleyball going 8-0 on the week en route to its second Mt. Morris tournament title of the season. 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 Both FGR Cross Country teams will compete in the 2026 Legends XC Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 3). 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘆 The Irish went 2-0 over the last week, beginning with a 2-1 victory over Bloomfield Hills Marian on Monday (Sept. 21). FGR followed with a 3-0 Senior Night win at home against Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett on Thursday (Sept. 24). The 8-1 Irish are set to compete in the CHSL Semifinals today (Sept. 29). FGR will return home Thursday (Oct. 1) to host Chelsea High School at 4:30 pm. With a semifinal victory, the Irish would advance to the CHSL Final on Saturday (Oct. 3). 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 The FGR Equestrian team clinched the District Championship and will advance to Regionals for the 11th consecutive year. Class winners included 𝗚𝗮𝗯𝗶 𝗢’𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗼𝗿 ’𝟯𝟬 in three events and 𝗔𝗹𝗳𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶 ’𝟮𝟳 in two. Ciarelli and 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻 ’𝟮𝟴 also finished among the top 10-point earners in the district. The Irish will compete for a regional title Oct. 2-4 at the Ingham County Fairgrounds in Mason. 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 The Irish fell 35-14 at home to Dearborn Divine Child on Friday (Sept. 25). FGR will look to bounce back Friday (Oct. 2) when it faces Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook in its annual Homecoming game under the lights at Eastern Michigan’s Rynearson Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 pm. 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗳 Girls Golf fell in a close match to Divine Child at Dearborn Country Club, 203-200, on Monday (Sept. 21). The Irish bounced back Wednesday (Sept. 23), defeating Ann Arbor Greenhills, 188-200, at Huron Hills. FGR opened a busy week yesterday (Sept. 28) at the CHSL Championship at Detroit Golf Club beginning at 9 am. The Irish will return to tournament action today (Sept. 29) at the Ann Arbor City Tournament at Barton Hills Country Club at 9 am. Closing out three straight days of competition, FGR will travel to face Livonia Churchill at Whispering Willows on Wednesday (Sept. 30) at 3:30 pm. 𝗕𝗼𝘆𝘀 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗿 Boys Soccer went 1-0-2 over the last week. The Irish opened the week Tuesday (Sept. 22) with a 1-1 draw against Detroit Cristo Rey at home. FGR then played Riverview Gabriel Richard to a 2-2 draw on Thursday (Sept. 24) in the first of two matchups in Riverview before closing the week Saturday (Sept. 26) with a 3-0 victory over the Pioneers. 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗮 ’𝟮𝟵 provided a consistent scoring presence for FGR, finding the back of the net in all three matches. The Irish return home Tuesday (Sept. 29) to host Jackson Lumen Christi at 5:30 pm. On Thursday (Oct. 1), FGR will travel to Grosse Pointe Woods for its second matchup of the season against University Liggett at 4:30 pm. 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲 Girls Swim and Dive competed in a pair of double-dual meets over the last week, earning a victory over Dearborn Divine Child while also facing Ann Arbor Huron, Farmington Hills Mercy and Saline High School. FGR won the 400 free relay against Mercy and Divine Child and placed second in the remaining relays. 𝗟𝘂𝗰𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗹𝗲 ’𝟮𝟵 led the individual performances with a first-place finish in the 100 fly and a runner-up finish in the 50 free, while 𝗘𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 ’𝟮𝟵 touched first in the 100 breast. 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗙𝗶𝗱𝗸𝗼𝘄𝘀𝗸𝗶 ’𝟮𝟵 placed second in the 200 IM with a season-best, state-qualifying time, and 𝗖𝗲𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗺𝗮𝗻 ’𝟯𝟬 took second in the 100 back. Against Saline and Ann Arbor Huron, Tribble added victories in the 200 IM and 100 back, while 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗢’𝗡𝗲𝗶𝗹 ’𝟮𝟵 won the 100 free. Fidkowski also posted a personal best and state-qualifying time in the 100 breast. At No. 1 doubles, 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗦𝗸𝗼𝗰𝘇𝘆𝗹𝗮𝘀 ’𝟯𝟬 and 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗿 ’𝟮𝟴 earned a three-set victory over Riverview Gabriel Richard. 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 The Irish put together an 8-0 week, capped by their second Mt. Morris tournament championship of the season. FGR opened the week Tuesday (Sept. 22) with a straight-set road victory over Warren Regina (25-19, 26-24, 25-12). 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗟𝘆𝗻𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘁 ’𝟮𝟵 and 𝗠𝗶𝗮 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿 ’𝟯𝟬 paced the attack with 12 kills apiece, while 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘇𝗸𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗰𝘇 ’𝟯𝟬 added 11. Hendershot and Oleszkowicz each collected 12 digs, while 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗢𝘀𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 ’𝟯𝟬 dished out 28 assists and added 17 digs. On Thursday (Sept. 24), the Irish defeated Wixom St. Catherine of Siena Academy in four sets (26-24, 25-14, 21-25, 25-21). Osness handed out 30 assists and collected 13 digs, while Oleszkowicz led FGR with nine kills and added 13 digs. FGR swept its way into the final of the Mt. Morris Tournament before defeating Yale High School in three sets (25-12, 23-25, 15-9) to capture the tournament title. Osness dished out 96 assists during the tournament, pushing her past 500 for the season. Hendershot paced the Irish offensively with 32 kills and added 33 digs. Oleszkowicz totaled 19 kills, 30 digs and 20 aces, including seven aces in the final against Yale. 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗗𝘆𝗲𝗿 ’𝟮𝟳 finished with 14 kills and eight blocks, with four of those blocks coming in the championship match. 𝗥𝘆𝗹𝗲𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗸𝗲 ’𝟮𝟴 anchored the back row with 56 digs and added nine aces during the tournament. Girls Volleyball carries a 24-3-2 record into the upcoming week. FGR will host Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook today (Sept. 29) at 6 pm for Teacher Appreciation Night.
